Why The Optavia lawsuit 2020 Happened?

The name “Optavia” may sound like an insurance firm for life or an eyeglass company. However, it's actually a wildly popular  weight-loss program/$3.7 million

Although you might have been aware of or perhaps tried the Optavia diet that's been popping in recent times, you might be shocked to discover where it originated. This Optavia diet is a part of Medifast. The Medifast business, which quickly changed its name following being fined civilly for making false claims regarding its 5-2-1 fat loss plan in the year 2012, was quickly shut down.

This misleading advertising resulted in an action by a group that led to the Medifast company receiving a 3.7 million dollar settlement in connection with false advertisements. The latest spin on the first Medifast food replacement brand is called the Optavia brand. This was the Optavia lawsuit 2020.

How Optavia Works and Optavia Components

The Optavia diet is a way to replace your regular meals with 100 calorie “fuelings” five times a day with just one massive, whole-foods, wholesome meal, the healthy and green dinner, for dinnertime. In contrast to this, Medifast was originally designed to assist people with restricted diets prepare for bariatric surgery.

Is Optavia a Pyramid Scheme?

Everything about Optavia is akin to an elaborate pyramid scheme. The most accurate definition of the term “pyramid scheme” is that it's an organization that depends on the sale of its products to earn a percentage of their profits, and a network of profit-sharing customers is built.A business will concentrate on attracting new workers so that they can earn more profits at the top. This is exactly the way Optavia is doing it.

They recruit people into the circle first by getting the diet, and the following time, by encouraging their desire to coach as well as sell products. Many opt-in not because they wish to be coaches; they simply want to receive discounts on expensive items they cannot afford.

Optavia Lawsuits and the Better Business Bureau

A search on the Internet to find any lawsuits against Optavia did not yield any results. However, we found two cases that involved Optavia suing another company. The company filed these suits against Barry Minkow and William Lobdell for defamation. However, they were unsuccessful in the final.

There's a “Better Business Bureau file” for Optavia LLC. The business isn't accredited and has received 1.6/5 stars from 104 customer reviews. In February 2022, there had been 581 complaints that had been closed in the past 3 years and 282 closed complaints over the past twelve months.

We may have found 4 reason to explain why the lawsuit happened.

Let's dig deeper into each one of them

Optavia made me sick

Below you will find a review from someone who tried the Optavia diet
“

It took only just one meal of their horrible food for me to fall sick enough that I was able to sit in a fetal position and cry, shake cold and sweaty and experiencing one of the most unpleasant bathroom visits I've ever had.

When I confronted my colleague of the issue, she became so defensive and then said, “Stick with it, your body is just flushing out all the toxins.” Then I realized how foolish I'd been. It's not what our bodies do It's a complete mess! In addition I'd tried to shed some weight I started this, and was eating salads and bananas prior to starting this faff. What kind of toxins?”
